«Тайное становится явным» (The Secret Becomes Clear) is another Denis story by Dragunsky. The meaning of the proverb: whoever acts dishonestly will be found out and ashamed. The story: Denis hears his mother say the proverb and asks its meaning. She explains: a dishonest person will be exposed. Then she brings semolina porridge, which Denis hates. She promises, “If you eat it all, we will go to the Kremlin.” Denis loves the Kremlin, so he tries to eat the porridge: he adds salt, sugar, boiling water and even horseradish — it is inedible! In the end he pours the porridge out of the window and tells his mother he has eaten it. She is pleased, but at that moment a policeman and a man with porridge on his hat enter the room. The proverb comes true: everything hidden is revealed. Denis, ashamed, admits his mother was right. The story is funny, but the main idea is serious: lying does not solve the problem.

Мальчик понял, что обман не скроешь.» (Mum gave the boy a plate of porridge and promised a trip to the Kremlin if he ate it all. The boy did not like porridge. He tried to salt it, sweeten it and thin it, but it got worse. Then he quietly threw the porridge out of the window and said he had eaten it all. But soon a man on whom the porridge had fallen came to their home. The boy understood that you cannot hide a lie.)
Proverbs: «Тайное становится явным.» «Шила в мешке не утаишь.» (You cannot hide an awl in a sack.) Their shared meaning: a lie cannot be hidden.
