Explanation

Version 1. In a group list the types of energy that could be used in Uzbekistan: natural gas, coal, water, sun, wind, waste-to-energy. At present a large part of Uzbekistan’s electricity comes from natural gas, with smaller shares from water, coal, solar and wind; these shares are changing, so check exact figures in a recent source. In a pie graph all the percentages must add up to 100%. For example, a planned mix: gas 40%, solar 25%, water 20%, wind 15% – this is only a teaching model, not the real share. Version 2. A “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” poster: a title, pictures, the three rules and an example for each. After the presentations the class chooses the project that shows the most imagination, usefulness and realism. Ask an adult to help with scissors and glue.

Worked examples
Our model plan: gas 40%, solar 25%, water 20%, wind 15%. The graph shows that solar power is the biggest renewable part in our plan. We chose it because the sun shines on many days in our country and there are open areas for panels.
Poster plan: Title – Small Steps, Big Change. Reduce – switch off lights. Reuse – write on both sides of paper. Recycle – put plastic bottles in a recycling container.
Class activity

Presentations: each group speaks for two minutes; the class votes for most creative, most useful, most realistic.
