Explanation
A museum is a place where objects of history and art are kept and shown. Fine art is made for beauty (paintings, statues); applied art is the art of useful objects (dishes, carpets, jewellery). A miniature is a very small painting; the Uzbek miniature tradition flourished under the Timurids in the 15th century, and Kamoliddin Behzod (about 1450–1535) is a famous master. Lacquer miniature is a painting on wooden objects (boxes, pencil cases) covered with lacquer. Calligraphy is the art of beautiful handwriting. The Savitsky Museum of Arts of Karakalpakstan in Nukus opened in 1966 and is famous for its unusual collections. About a museum use the passive: The museum was opened in 1966. Many works are displayed there.
Worked examples
The Savitsky Museum is in Nukus. It was founded in 1966 and today it is visited by people from many countries. Behzod’s miniatures are studied in art schools. A lacquer box is painted with a fine brush and then covered with a shiny layer.
