Respect and politeness (2)
Textbook pp. 69–71
GoalTreat others with mutual respect and say “no” politely.
New words
polite, friendly · xushmuomalarude · qo‘polmutual respect · o‘zaro hurmatquarrel · janjal
Explanation
If someone speaks rudely to us, it is disrespect and causes a quarrel. When people speak with respect, we are all glad. With mutual respect any work is easy to do together. If a request doesn’t suit us, we say gently: “Sorry, I can’t do it now.” Then the person is not offended. Even when we can’t include someone in a game, we use no rude words.
Worked examples
“Rude and polite”. Madina told her friend: “You don’t know how to play!” Her friend got upset and left. Then Madina thought it over and said: “Sorry, I said it wrongly. Let’s play in turns.” Both started playing again, laughing.
Class activity
“Change the sentence”: the teacher says a rude phrase (“Go away!”); children turn it into a polite one (“Please, I’m busy right now”).
