Explanation
The book is a source of knowledge, information and upbringing. From books we learn new words, read tales and stories, and find out about nature and the world. Alisher Navoi loved reading books from childhood. Reading increases our vocabulary and lifts our mood. We take care of books: we don’t fold pages, tear them or hold them with dirty hands. We glue torn places.
Worked examples
“Book doctor”. Hamid saw that the cover of his book was torn. He took glue and paper, stuck the torn place, and put a heavy book on top. Next day the book was whole again. Hamid said: “I am my book’s doctor.”
Class activity
“Book swap”: children bring a book they have read, briefly introduce it to a friend and swap.
