My homeland, my pride
Textbook pp. 4–6
GoalRecall what the homeland is, Uzbekistan’s symbols and capital, and name ways to love the homeland.
New words
homeland · Vatancapital city · poytaxtstate symbols · davlat ramzlarione’s home region · kichik Vatan
Explanation
The land where we are born and grow up is called the homeland (Vatan). The capital of Uzbekistan is Tashkent. There are three state symbols: the flag, the coat of arms and the anthem. The city or village where we live is our “small homeland”. To love the homeland means to protect it, keep it clean, and study well to become a useful person.
Worked examples
“My small homeland”. I live in Samarkand. There are many ancient buildings in this city. My grandfather tells me about the Registan. I plant a tree on our street and water it. I want my small homeland to stay beautiful.
Class activity
“Map of the homeland”: each child finds their own region on a big map, sticks a small sticker on it and names one famous place there.
