Explanation
Hospitality means welcoming a guest from the heart and making them comfortable. When a guest comes we greet them with a smile at the door, invite them in and lay the table. At the table we don’t lean on our elbows, we eat quietly and don’t play with spoons. When guests leave we say thank you and see them to the door.
Worked examples
“Guests”. Dilfuza and her sister met their grandmother’s guests. At the door they greeted them: “Welcome!” Dilfuza helped hang their coats and brought tea. When leaving, the guests said: “Thank you, you welcomed us so nicely.”
Class activity
“When a guest comes”: children act out welcoming and seeing off a guest; the class judges whether the manners were right.
