Mirtemir’s poems
In “Bulut” (Cloud) the white cloud is a messenger of spring rain and abundance: the poet compares it to milk and velvet and asks it to rain; the words “o‘t, sut, qut” (grass, milk, bounty) rhyme with each other. In “Shudring” (Dew) the lyrical hero goes out to the meadow at dawn and compares the drops on leaves to pearls, ring-stones and blue beads; at the end he compares them to the tears of a mother – nature. Interestingly, the word “shudring” does not appear anywhere in the poem except the title. In “Baliq ovi” (Fishing) the poet remembers the stream in his village and trying to catch fish as a boy, and at the end he resolves to cast a net next time, and to cast it well, preparing himself for big aims. All three poems blend description of nature, memory and a high aim.
