O‘tkir Hoshimov
O‘tkir Hoshimov was born in 1941 in the Do‘mbirobod neighbourhood of Tashkent. He began to try his hand at poems as early as the fifth grade, and his first book came out during his student years. The writer Abdulla Qahhor praised his first novella, “Cho‘l havosi”, in a letter. Hoshimov worked as a postman, proofreader, correspondent, newspaper department head and chief editor of a publisher and a magazine, and also served as a deputy. He wrote the novels “Nur borki, soya bor”, “Ikki eshik orasi” and “Tushda kechgan umrlar”, the novellas “Dunyoning ishlari” and “Bahor qaytmaydi”, and a collection of wise notes, “Daftar hoshiyasidagi bitiklar”. A People’s Writer of Uzbekistan, he died in Tashkent on 24 May 2013.
