Zulfiya is a People’s Poetess of Uzbekistan and was the life partner of Hamid Olimjon. In “Haykal” (The Monument), a statue is raised to the poet and his work is described as alive in the people’s heart; the lyrical hero speaks to the poet before the monument and bows to him. “O‘riklar gullar...” (The apricots are blooming) is dedicated to Olimjon’s seventieth birthday: it paints spring, blossoming apricot trees and the poet’s eternal youth. Both poems express love, loyalty and reverence. After reading them you can explain for yourself what it means to cherish a poet’s memory.
Примеры
Example: a blossoming apricot is a symbol of renewal and youth; so the poet’s staying “young” is shown with this image.
Example: a monument keeps memory in stone; a poem keeps it in words.
