Explanation
We can say 2 + 2 + 2 as 3 times 2. It means 3 groups of 2. 3 times 2 is 6. We say 4 times 5 for 4 groups of 5. First say how many groups. Then say how many are in each group.

Class activity
Seed groups. Take 20 seeds or beads. Make 3 times 3, then 2 times 5, then 4 times 2. Say the word times, add the groups and say the total each time. Check by counting.
