Adding equal groups

Explanation

Sometimes every group has the same number. Look at 3 plates with 2 rotis on each plate. Add the groups: 2 + 2 + 2 = 6. There are 6 rotis altogether. Count each group once, then add.

Class activity

Pebble groups. Make 3 groups of 4 pebbles. Add the groups: 4 + 4 + 4. Check by counting all the pebbles one by one. Then make 5 groups of 2 pebbles and add them.
