Explanation

Look at a picture with many things. Put the same kind of thing together. Count each kind. Write how many of each. Outside Ishaan’s school there are 4 autos, 2 buses and 3 bicycles. A table can show the same numbers.

Worked examples
A fruit cart has 5 mangoes, 3 bananas and 4 apples.

In a picture graph each picture is one thing. Kites 3, balloons 5.
At the fair there are 6 horses and 4 camels. 6 + 4 = 10 animals.
Class activity

Home count. Look in a drawer or kitchen shelf. Sort the things into kinds, such as spoons, cups and bowls. Count each kind. Write the numbers on a paper. Which kind do you have the most of?
