Heavier and lighter

Explanation

Hold a stone in one hand. Hold a leaf in the other hand. Which hand goes down? The stone pulls your hand down. The stone is heavier. The leaf is lighter. A balance shows it too. The heavier side goes down.

Class activity

Hand balance. Find five things at home, such as a spoon, a sock, a book, a bottle cap and a cup. Hold two of them, one in each hand. Say which feels heavier. Then put all five in a line from the lightest to the heaviest.
