Explanation

In India we use rupees. We write them with the sign ₹. The coins are ₹1, ₹2, ₹5 and ₹10. The notes are ₹10, ₹20, ₹50 and ₹100. The number on the coin or note tells its value. A bigger number is worth more.

Class activity

Coin rubbing. Ask a grown-up for a few real coins. Put a thin paper on a coin and rub it with a pencil. Read the value in the rubbing. Sort the rubbings from the smallest value to the biggest.
