Explanation
Inside means in something. Outside means not in it. A ball in a basket is inside the basket. A ball on the floor beside the basket is outside the basket. A sock in a drawer is inside the drawer.
Worked examples
A sweet is in the jar. The sweet is inside the jar.
The puppy is in the basket. The puppy is inside the basket. The cat is not in the basket. The cat is outside the basket.
When you are in your classroom, you are inside. When you walk out of the door, you are outside.
Class activity
Open your eyes! The child closes their eyes. A grown-up puts a spoon inside a box or outside it, next to the box. The child opens their eyes and says: the spoon is inside the box, or the spoon is outside the box. Then swap and the child hides the spoon.
