Stack three books or plates. Say which is at the top, in the middle and at the bottom. Change the order and say it again.
The child names top, middle and bottom correctly each time.

Find 6 things at home: 3 spoons or forks and 3 other things. Sort them into two groups. Say why.
Any right sorting that the child can explain, for example spoons together and cups together.

Who is before and who is after the goat?
The peacock is before the goat. The camel is after the goat.

Line up 5 toys. Say which is first, which is last and which is in the middle.
The child names the first toy, the last toy and the third toy as the middle.
