Explanation

To book a hairdresser we say: I’d like to book a haircut for Saturday, please. The receptionist offers a time: I have a free slot on Friday at 4. We spell a name: R-A-S-U-L-O-V. To order a service: I’d like a wash and a trim, please. Describing hair: a parting on the right, a long fringe, curly / straight / fair / dark hair. Dissatisfaction with the present: wish + Past Simple: I wish I had a faster computer. I wish my room weren’t so small. Regret about something done: wish + Past Perfect: I wish I hadn’t sold my old bike. I wish I had asked for help. In this use wish does not mean “want”; it means “if only it were / had been so”.

Worked examples

I wish I were taller. I wish our flat had a balcony. After the visit: I wish I hadn’t chosen such a bright colour. I wish I had listened to the stylist.
