Telephone conversations
Answers are for parents and teachers.
1
Write a six-line phone call in which you invite a friend to do something at the weekend.
For example: A: Hello. B: Hi, it’s Sevara here. Could I speak to Jahon, please? A: Speaking. B: I’m phoning to invite you to the park on Saturday. A: Great, I’d love to! B: See you at ten. Bye.
2
Write four different reasons for a call with “I’m phoning to ...” (tell, ask, wish, find out).
For example: I’m phoning to tell you the news. I’m phoning to ask for your help. I’m phoning to wish you good luck. I’m phoning to find out the time of the concert.
3
Leave a message for a teacher who is out. Write two sentences about tomorrow’s test (tell … that, ask … to).
For example: Could you tell her that the test is tomorrow? Could you ask her to bring the answer sheets?
4
Find the emergency numbers in your country and write them down (fire brigade, ambulance, police).
Uzbekistan: 101 fire brigade, 102 police, 103 ambulance (check with an adult).
