Explanation

Anvar Obidjon was born on 8 January 1947 in the village of Poloson in the Oltiariq district of the Fergana region. In youth he learned various trades, worked in a mine and a library after school, studied at a finance technical school in Samarkand and did military service. Later he worked at a district newspaper and studied by correspondence at the university’s journalism faculty. His first book “Ona yer” came out in 1974. He worked in Tashkent and was chief editor and director of the “Cho‘lpon” publishing house. The poet has more than fifty books; he also wrote poems, prose, plays and film scripts for children, including “Bahromning hikoyalari” (1980). Obidjon died on 11 April 2020 at the age of 73 and held the title People’s Poet of Uzbekistan.
