Explanation
Abdulla Oripov was born on 21 March 1941 in the village of Neko‘z in the Koson district of Kashkadarya. He graduated from the university’s journalism department in 1963. His first collection “Mitti yulduz” appeared in 1965. Oripov translated Dante’s “Divine Comedy” into Uzbek, wrote the play “Sohibqiron” and is the author of the words of the State Anthem of the Republic of Uzbekistan. He received the title People’s Poet and the Alisher Navoiy State Prize, and in 1998 the title Hero of Uzbekistan. The poet died on 5 November 2016. For independent reading the textbook gives the poem “Qushcha” and a tale about a guest from the sky.
