Mountains and their riches
The highest point of a mountain is the peak, its side is the slope, its bottom is the foot. Mountains joined together form a range. The mountains in the east and south-east of Uzbekistan connect with the Tian Shan and Pamir-Alay ranges. The higher you climb the colder the air gets, so snow and glaciers on high peaks do not melt. More rain and snow fall in mountains than on plains, and the water flows by streams into rivers. Riches of the mountains: clean air, healing herbs (sage, dog rose), mountain meadows (livestock graze), honey, minerals and coniferous forests. Snow reflects ultraviolet rays, so you can get sunburnt in the mountains even in winter; sunglasses and sun cream are needed. We go to the mountains with adults, take warm clothes and water, and stay on the path.
“Mountain riches” mind map: write “Mountain” in the centre and draw 6 riches around it (clean air, meadows, healing herbs, honey, water, snow/glacier). Write 3 safety rules for the mountains.
