A journey across the continents

Explanation

There are six continents on Earth: Eurasia, Africa, North America, South America, Australia and Antarctica. Eurasia is the biggest continent, and Uzbekistan is on it, in the Asian part. Africa has the Sahara desert and savannas. Kangaroos and koalas live in Australia. Antarctica is covered almost entirely with ice and is extremely cold. The surface of continents: mountains are high and often snow-capped, hills are lower, and plains are flat and wide, where crops are grown.

Worked examples
Everest is the highest mountain peak in the world, in Asia.
The Amazon rainforest is in South America.
Class activity

“Journey across the continents”: find the six continents on a globe or map and colour each differently. Then the teacher asks: “Which continent do kangaroos live on?”, “Which is the coldest continent?”, “Which continent are we on?”. Children point to them on the map. Make models of a mountain, hill and plain from sand or plasticine.
