What is plagiarism? (B)

Textbook: pp. 126–129
GoalTag questions in conversation and dialogue; reasons for plagiarism; word building (plagiarize – plagiarism – plagiarist).
New words
time pressure · muddat bosimiassignment · vazifaoffence · qoidabuzarlikoriginal · haqiqiy, asl
Explanation

Students plagiarise most often because of a lack of time, because they do not understand the topic or because they do not know the rules of citation. In dialogue, tag questions make talk sound natural: You’ve got the assignment, haven’t you? – Yes, but it’s due tomorrow. – You haven’t started it, have you? In many countries plagiarism is a serious offence at schools and universities and affects marks. Word building: plagiarize (verb) – plagiarism (noun) – plagiarist (noun, a person who plagiarises); copy – copyright; original – originality. If the verb is have/has used as an auxiliary, the tag repeats it.
