Explanation

A career plan is a sequence of stages that leads to a goal. A planning chart can include: My goal; Now; In one year; In five years (By 2031 I will have...); Difficulties (If I fail the entrance exam, I will...). Use the first conditional for a back-up plan: If I don’t get a grant, I will look for a part-time job. An opinion essay has an introduction with your view (In my opinion...), two main paragraphs (reason + example), a short reply to the opposite view (Some people say..., however...) and a conclusion (To sum up,...). In IELTS Writing Task 2 write at least 250 words in a formal tone, mainly with the Present Simple and will/would.

Class activity

“Relationship map”: put the goal in the centre of the board and people/resources around it (teacher, family, library, mentor); groups explain with will how each can help.
