Although the film was long, it was interesting. (or: The film was long, but it was interesting.)

Join with therefore: The bus was late. We took a taxi.
The bus was late; therefore, we took a taxi.

Join with neither ... nor: The advert was not funny. It was not informative.
The advert was neither funny nor informative.
