Explanation

Job adverts are short: a headline (Waiter wanted), working conditions (hours, pay), requirements (must be 16+, previous experience preferred) and contact details (apply by e-mail). Abbreviations: approx. (approximately), exp. (experience), p/t (part-time), f/t (full-time), w/e (weekend). Typical teenage jobs are library assistant, delivery helper, tutor, online customer support and summer-camp helper. When you speak about your plan, use a full going to sentence and give a reason: I am going to work as a tutor because I want to save money for a laptop. There are age limits and safety rules: young teenagers must not do heavy or dangerous work, so talk to your parents before you apply.

Worked examples
WANTED: Assistant for school library, p/t, 3 afternoons a week. Must be 16+. Good IT skills. Apply to Ms Karimova by e-mail.
Aziza is going to apply for the library job because she loves books. She isn’t going to work on Fridays because she has a course.
Class activity

A class “job fair”: each pair writes an advert and other pairs act as candidates and give a two-sentence application.
