Line breaks with ch, sh, ng and the apostrophe

Textbook Part 1, pp. 66–67
GoalSplit and carry over words with ch, sh, ng and the apostrophe correctly.
New words
letter pair · harf birikmasisea · dengizmeaning · ma’noart · san’at
Explanation

Ch, sh and ng are one sound each, so they are never split: de-ngiz (sea), qo‘-shiq (song), ol-cha (cherry). The apostrophe (’) always stays with the first syllable: ma’-no (meaning), san’-at (art). Two identical consonants side by side are split: kat-ta (big), ham-ma (everyone).

Worked examples
si-ngil (younger sister), ya-ngi (new), shaf-to-li (peach): ng and sh stay together
ma’-no (meaning), sur’-at (speed), ma’-lu-mot (information): the apostrophe stays in the first syllable
Class activity

“Friends who never part”: cards with ch, sh, ng are “holding hands”. Children cut words into syllables with scissors but never cut these pairs.
