What is a sound?

Explanation

Every word we say and hear is made of sounds. Uzbek has 30 sounds. Change one sound in a word and you get a new word: it (dog) — ot (horse).

Worked examples
buvi (grandma) — bobo (grandpa); it (dog) — ot (horse); non (bread) — nok (pear)
The word ot has 2 sounds: o, t.
Class activity

“Magician” game: the teacher says a word (sovun, soap) and children change one sound to make a new word (qovun, melon).
