Point. Straight and curved lines
Textbook Part 1, pp. 62–63
GoalRecognise and draw points, straight lines and curved lines; label points with letters.
New words
point · nuqtastraight line · to‘g‘ri chiziqcurved line · egri chiziqto cross / intersect · kesishmoq
Explanation
A point is the smallest geometric shape. In maths we label points with capital Latin letters: A, B, C. A straight line is drawn with a ruler and goes on forever in both directions. A curved line bends and is drawn without lifting the pencil.
Worked examples
There are several roads from town A to town B. The shortest road is the straight one.
You can draw as many straight lines as you like through one point.
Class activity
Children mark one point in their notebook and draw 5 straight lines through it with a ruler; then they draw a wavy curve without lifting the pencil.
