Solving problems
Textbook Part 3, pp. 12–13
GoalMake up and solve problems from pictures and tables.
New words
points (score) · ballwinner · g‘olibtable · jadval
Explanation
Information often comes in a table. We take the numbers we need from the table and write an expression. For example, in a robot contest each robot’s two round scores are added, and the robot with the biggest total wins.
Worked examples
One robot loaded 46 bags of rubbish onto a truck and another loaded 42: 46 + 42 = 88 bags.
Robot A: 23 and 34 points → 57. Robot B: 31 and 25 → 56. 57 > 56, so A wins.
Class activity
“Robot path”: squares on the floor show sums. Each next sum must start with the previous answer. Children guide the robot (themselves) along the right path.
