Counting objects

Textbook Part 1, pp. 10–11
GoalCount objects up to 9 and use ordinal words (first, second, ...).
New words
to count · sanamoqfirst · birinchisecond · ikkinchithird · uchinchilast · oxirgi
Explanation

When we count, we touch each object only once and say a number: one, two, three... The last number we say tells how many there are. Ordinal words tell an object’s place in a line: first, second, third.

Worked examples
🥕🥕🥕🥕🥕 — one, two, three, four, five. There are 5 carrots.
A train has 7 carriages. A girl is in the 3rd carriage from the left, a boy in the 3rd from the right. There is 1 carriage between them.
Class activity

5 children stand in a line at the board. The class answers: “Who is first? Who is last? Who is third from the left?”
