The naming sentence
Textbook: pp. 67–68
ЦельKnow the content, structure and use of the naming sentence.
A naming sentence brings a place, time, object or scene before the reader’s eyes by naming it. It is expressed by a noun in the nominative case and only names: “Tong.”, “Kech. Shamol.”, “Qor!”. Such sentences are used in literature to paint a setting in a word or two or to bring back a memory. A naming sentence may consist of one word or be extended by an attribute: “Sokin qish kechasi.” The textbook places it among the indefinite-person subjectless sentences. Unlike an ordinary subject–predicate sentence, it reports no action or feature; it only names a thing or event.
