The word-sentence
Textbook: pp. 69–71
ЦельKnow the content and meaning types of the word-sentence and its place in dialogue.
A sentence made of one fixed word that cannot be extended by other words is called a word-sentence. It comes as an answer or reaction to the previous sentence and expresses meanings such as affirmation, negation, question, surprise or emotion. Word-sentences occur mainly in dialogue, sometimes in monologue: “Ha”, “Yo‘q”, “Xo‘p”, “Mayli”, “Marhamat”. There are also polite word-sentences used in everyday communication: assalomu alaykum, xayr, rahmat, labbay, marhamat. The term itself shows the essence: one word does the job of a whole sentence. The textbook also lists the word-sentence among indefinite-person sentences.
