Project

Textbook: p. 25
GoalProject: a persuasive speech “my job is the most important”; Without ... you cannot ...; if + present + will; voting.
New words
to persuade · ishontirmoqessential · zarur, muhimto vote · ovoz bermoqreason · sabab, dalil
Explanation

In the project every group member argues that his or her job is essential. The speech has four steps: 1) say what you do and why it matters (I’m a nurse, and this job matters because ...), 2) mention your training and strengths (I trained for four years; I stay calm in a crisis), 3) show why others need you: If you get ill, I will look after you. Without builders, people cannot have homes. 4) compare your job with others in a fair way: Other jobs are useful too, but people need my work every single day. Good reasons, clear examples and a calm voice are needed. Listen to other groups, write down the best argument and vote honestly.

Worked examples
I am an electrician. Without electricians you cannot have light, heating or working machines. If the power fails, I will repair the line quickly. You can manage without a singer for a day, but not without electricity.
I am a farmer. Without farmers there is no bread, fruit or milk. If you plant seeds and look after them, they will grow. Everyone needs food every day.
Class activity

“The lifeboat”: there is room for only one more professional in an imaginary lifeboat; each pupil gives a one-minute argument for his or her job and the class votes.
