A day in the life of …
Textbook: p. 22
GoalTypes of job: full-time, part-time, flexi-time; noun + noun = adjective phrases; the day when ... and daily routine (Present Simple).
New words
full-time job · to‘liq ish kunipart-time job · qisman ish kuniflexi-time job · moslashuvchan ish vaqtiteam · hamkasblar jamoasi
Explanation
A full-time job takes the whole working week, a part-time job has shorter hours, and in a flexi-time job you choose your hours within limits. In sentences these phrases work as adjectives: a part-time job, a full-time worker. Rule: in such noun + noun adjectives the first noun stays singular: a five-day week, a ten-minute walk (not a ten-minutes walk). For a particular day or time we use when: It’s the day when our school holds its careers fair. We describe a daily routine in the Present Simple: Kamol gets up at 6.45, starts work at 8 and finishes at 4. A part-time job is flexible, but the pay can be lower.
Worked examples
