Explanation

A word processor improves not only the content of text but also its look: you can add pictures and tables and change letter colour and size. Text made in a word processor is called a document. One of the most used programs is Microsoft Word; free alternatives such as LibreOffice Writer and Google Docs work in a very similar way. The Word window has a title bar (document name), a quick-access toolbar, menu tabs with their ribbon, the work area and a status bar (page and word count). Buttons on the ribbon are grouped by purpose; for example the Home tab holds Clipboard, Font, Paragraph, Styles and Editing groups. You start Word from its icon in the Start menu, a desktop shortcut or the taskbar, and you finish with the close button or Alt+F4.

Worked examples
If a document has no name yet, the title bar shows “Document1”. When you save it, you give it a name of your own.
“Bahor keldi. Gullar ochildi.” (Spring has come. Flowers have opened.) has two sentences but only one paragraph: a new paragraph begins only when you press Enter. A text is a collection of paragraphs.
Class activity

“Read the window” task: each pair takes a screenshot of the Word window and labels the title bar, ribbon, work area and status bar with arrows.
