The WordArt object

Explanation

WordArt is text that looks like a decorative picture. It is used for titles in reports, articles and posters. To insert a WordArt object, put the cursor in place, press the WordArt button in the Text group of the Insert tab and choose a style from the list. A text field appears with a highlighted sample text which you replace with your own, for example “Yashna, O‘zbekiston!” (Flourish, Uzbekistan!). When the WordArt is selected the Shape Format tab appears: Text Fill colours the inside of the letters, Text Outline colours their outline, and Text Effects gives shadow, reflection, glow and Transform. With Transform you can bend the text along an arch, a wave or a ring (circle). You can move, resize and rotate the object, and also choose the text direction and alignment. Use WordArt in moderation: too many effects make text hard to read, so keep it mainly for titles and covers.

Worked examples
The cover of an informatics report: at the top “INFORMATIKA” as WordArt (flat and large, not ring-shaped) and below it the author’s name and class in an ordinary font.
To arrange “Maktabimiz faxrimiz!” (Our school, our pride!) in a ring: insert WordArt → Shape Format → Text Effects → Transform → Follow Path → Circle → enlarge it.
Class activity

“Best poster” contest: each pair makes a “Navro‘z bayrami” (Navruz holiday) poster with a WordArt title; the class picks the one that is easiest to read.
