The gold embroiderer
Textbook: Part 4, pp. 40–42
GoalState in general terms the theme of Ravshan Isoqov’s poem “Zardo‘z”; understand the link between craft and love through our own quatrain; read a poem expressively.
New words
gold-embroiderer · zardo‘zcraft · hunarpotter · kulolpatience · sabr
Explanation
The textbook has Ravshan Isoqov’s poem “Zardo‘z” about the craft of gold embroidery and a mother’s love. Gold embroidery is the art of sewing patterns with gold threads on clothes and skullcaps. We do not quote it; we read our own quatrain, which shows another craft, pottery. A craft is learned with patience, accuracy and love. Money and things may be lost, but a learned craft always stays with a person — that is its value. When working with needles, scissors or sharp tools, adult supervision is needed.
Worked examples
Quatrain “The potter”. My father softens the clay / With his hands and strokes it. / On the turning wheel / The pot opens like a flower. (our own poem)
