Explanation

The textbook has the story “Qanot qoqqan orzular” (Dreams that took wing) by Hilola Hamdamova, in which a craftsman’s grandson prepares for a contest and meets difficulties. We do not retell it; we read our own text. A plan is a list of short sentences giving the main events in order. To make a plan we divide the text into parts and give each part a short heading. Then we retell the text in our own words following the plan. Moral virtues are good qualities such as patience, honesty, diligence and kindness.

Worked examples
“Embroidery”. Munisa decided to embroider a small piece for the school exhibition. Her grandmother taught her to draw the pattern and choose threads. To be careful with the needle she always worked sitting next to her grandmother. In a few evenings she finished the first flower, but it came out crooked. Munisa did not grieve; she unpicked the thread slowly and began again. At the exhibition she won no prize, but her grandmother said: “The main thing is that you were patient.”
Plan: 1) Munisa’s decision. 2) Grandmother’s teaching. 3) The crooked flower and starting again. 4) The exhibition and grandmother’s words.
Class activity

“Retell by the plan”: in pairs children take turns retelling the text following the plan points.
