Explanation

O‘tkir Hoshimov was born in Tashkent in 1941 and received the title “People’s Writer of Uzbekistan”. The textbook has his story “Temir qoziq” (The iron peg), written as a childhood memory. We do not retell it; we read our own text. To retell a story we make a plan: 1) where and with whom the event took place; 2) what the main hero found or did; 3) what decision he made; 4) how it ended. Each point of the plan is one sentence. Honesty means not touching what belongs to others and returning a find to its owner.

Worked examples
Text “Too much change”. Karim bought two loaves at the shop and paid the seller. At home he counted the change: the seller had given him five thousand so‘m too much. At first Karim thought: “Nobody will know.” But his conscience began to trouble him. He went back to the shop and handed the money to the seller. The seller was surprised and thanked Karim warmly. Karim went home with a light heart.
Plan: 1) Karim bought bread. 2) At home he saw the extra money. 3) He went back and returned it. 4) The seller was grateful.
