Explanation

The informational text “Kasblar gulshodasi” (Garden of professions) in the textbook explains what a profession is and speaks of vanishing, modern and rare professions. We do not retell it; we read our own text. A profession is a person’s permanent kind of work and needs knowledge, skill and experience. When technology develops, some professions disappear (for example, the telegraph clerk), while others appear (for example, the drone operator). Rare professions are seldom met. While reading we mark new information and put it into a table.

Worked examples
Text “Professions are changing”. Fifty years ago a telegraph clerk transmitted urgent messages. Today messages go in a moment by phone and computer, so this profession has almost vanished. One modern profession is the drone operator: he films the land from above and helps the farmer inspect the field. A rare profession is the watchmaker: there are very few people who repair old mechanical watches. Each profession does needed work for people.
Table: lost – telegraph clerk; modern – drone operator; rare – watchmaker.
