Explanation
In Miltiqboy Xonnazarov’s poem the contribution of our ancestors to science and culture is celebrated. Sohibqiron is the title of Amir Temur, who was born near Kesh (now Shahrisabz) in 1336 and died in 1405. We do not quote the poem; we read our own text. Among our ancestors, al-Khwarizmi contributed to mathematics and algebra, Ibn Sino to medicine, and Mirzo Ulug‘bek to astronomy. The word “algorithm” comes from al-Khwarizmi’s name. Reading the text, we put in a table which scholar worked in which field.
Worked examples
Text “In the footsteps of ancestors”. A “Great ancestors” corner opened in the school library. Pictures of al-Khwarizmi, Ibn Sino and Mirzo Ulug‘bek hang there. Al-Khwarizmi worked with numbers and equations. Ibn Sino wrote books on treating the sick. Ulug‘bek observed the stars and compiled tables of them. The pupils studied these scholars and resolved to be like them.
Table: al-Khwarizmi – mathematics; Ibn Sino – medicine; Ulug‘bek – astronomy.
