Explanation
The textbook has the story “Ona kaklik” (Mother partridge) by Azim Suyun, about a partridge mother’s love for her chicks. We do not retell it or give its events. The partridge is a wild bird living in mountainous places. Animals protect their young in different ways: a lioness or cat guards them from others, some birds lead an enemy away by pretending to be hurt. Reading the text, we put the mother hero’s actions in a table. Important safety rule: in nature we do not approach the young of wild animals, we do not touch them and we tell an adult.
Worked examples
Text “Mother goat”. On a mountain slope a mother goat grazed with her kid. Suddenly a wolf’s sound was heard from afar. The mother goat hid the kid behind a rock and herself stood on a high stone. The wolf walked a little and went away. The mother goat licked the kid and calmed it. In the evening they returned to the herd.
Table: heard – hid – protected – calmed. Idea: a mother protects her child.
Class activity
