Explanation
Obid Rasul was a well-known children’s poet who taught at school for many years and therefore knew children’s character well. His books include “Ko‘k chakmonli yigitcha”, “Olmazor”, “Quvnoq bolalar”. The textbook gives his poem “Ona” (Mother), dedicated to Alisher Navoi’s mother; it is about a mother’s love and upbringing. We do not quote it; we read our own quatrain. A simile describes one thing by comparing it with another: “My mother is the sun.” We state our own thoughts about a mother, form questions and find one new simile.
Worked examples
Quatrain “My mother”. Mother is a spring, her love never cools, / Her heart is warm, her mind not sad. / Her hands smell of bread, her words are blessings, / If I am not beside her, her heart is not at rest. (our own poem)
