Explanation

The textbook has the story “Arining qasosi” (The bee’s revenge), Part 1, by Muhabbat Hamidova, in which children meet stinging insects. We do not retell it; we read our own text. Bees, wasps and hornets sting when they defend their nest. So we do not touch their nests, throw stones or wave our arms. If one flies near, we walk away calmly without hurrying. If stung, we tell an adult at once; if the face swells or breathing becomes hard, the ambulance (103) is called.

Worked examples
“The nest in the wall”. Zafar and Nigora saw several wasps flying near the wall of an old shed in the school yard. In a crack of the wall there was a grey nest. Zafar wanted to throw a stone, but Nigora stopped him: “They defend their nest, they will sting.” Slowly they moved away and told the school caretaker. The next day a specialist removed the nest safely. Zafar understood that his friend’s warning had saved him.
Cause-effect: Nigora warned (cause) – Zafar was not stung (effect). Rule: don’t touch the nest, tell an adult.
Class activity

“Safe response”: the teacher names a situation (a bee flies nearby; a nest is seen); children act out the correct behaviour.

Practice
1
Where did the children see the nest?
2
What did Zafar want to do?
3
Why did Nigora stop him?
4
Who removed the nest?
5
What is done if someone is stung?
