Explanation

In Unit II we studied the theme “Our state symbols – the emblems of our homeland”. The unit includes Mansur Aslonov’s poem “Qomusim”, Boltaboy Eshmurotov’s text “Vatan – jon fidolikdir”, Abdulla Oripov’s poem “O‘zbekiston madhiyasi” and the informational text about flags. The textbook also gives Zahro Hasanova’s poem “Davlatimiz ramzlari”. Important dates: 31 August 1991 – independence declared (1 September is Independence Day); 18 November 1991 – flag; 2 July 1992 – emblem; 8 December 1992 – Constitution; 10 December 1992 – anthem.

Worked examples
“Symbols day”. A symbols day was held at our school. First graders drew the flag, second graders coloured the emblem. We fourth graders performed the anthem expressively. The director said that every symbol reminds us of our country’s identity. I wrote in my notebook the names of the three symbols and the dates they were adopted. Respect for state symbols is a citizen’s duty.
Table: flag – 18.11.1991; emblem – 2.07.1992; anthem – 10.12.1992; Constitution – 8.12.1992.
Class activity
