A picture frame (from waste material)
A frame is a pretty border around a picture or photo. It keeps the picture’s edges from bending and tearing and helps it look neat on a wall or a desk. A frame can be made from waste such as old box card, caps, buttons and scraps of coloured paper. The inner window must be a little smaller than the picture so the picture does not fall out. At the end we tidy the desk and sort the scraps.
You need: card from an old box, pencil, scissors, PVA glue, sticky tape, scraps of coloured paper, clean caps or buttons, a picture you drew. Steps: 1) Put the picture on the card, draw a rectangle leaving a 2 cm border all round and cut it out. 2) Draw a smaller rectangle window 1 cm inside the picture’s outline; an adult cuts it out. 3) Glue scraps of coloured paper round the frame. 4) Glue on caps and buttons as decoration and tape the picture behind the window. Safety: only an adult cuts the window in thick card, and children never use a craft knife; caps must be clean, and never put small buttons in your mouth.
