A clever fox (from waste material)
Textbook pp. 26–27
GoalMake a clever fox from waste material (a cardboard tube).
New words
waste, scrap · chiqitfox · tulkicardboard tube · karton g‘altaktail · dum
Explanation
Waste material means things we no longer need but can use again. If we make something new from them, we harm nature less. We choose a clean item, wash it and let it dry. The fox belongs to the dog family, has a very good sense of smell and a long fluffy tail. In winter it curls up in its tail to keep warm.
Worked examples
A cardboard tube + orange paper + triangle ears + a long tail = a fox.
Class activity
You need: a clean cardboard tube, orange and white paper, scissors, glue, felt-tip pen, cotton wool. Steps: 1) Wrap the tube with orange paper and glue it. 2) Glue two triangle ears on top (orange with white insides). 3) Cut a white face and chest and stick them on. 4) Glue a long tail at the back with cotton wool on the tip; draw the eyes and nose. Safety: if the tube must be cut, an adult does it; use only clean, unbreakable items.
