Sewing on a button
A button either fastens clothes or decorates them. Most buttons have 2 or 4 holes. To sew one on, thread the needle and tie a knot. The thread goes up through a hole, down through the next hole and into the cloth, and this repeats several times. Do not pull too tight, leaving a little space so the button can pass through the loop. Finally we fix the thread with a knot on the back.
You need: a button, felt or fabric, a needle, thread (40 cm), scissors, a pin cushion. Steps: 1) Thread the needle and tie a knot. 2) Place the button on the fabric and bring the needle up through a hole. 3) Put the needle down through the neighbouring hole, and repeat 5–6 times. 4) Make two knots at the back and cut the extra thread. Safety: use the needle under adult supervision; never put buttons in your mouth and keep them away from small children.
